Actor, writer, and rapper Donald Glover has a diverse array of accomplishments under his belt, from working on beloved comedies like 30 Rock and Community to releasing a handful of highly acclaimed mix tapes (under the name Childish Gambino). His latest project, FX’s Atlanta – a semi-autobiographical series Glover writes, stars in, and even directs a few episodes of – will be the first to showcase the full scope of his interests all in one place.
The show follows cousins Earn (Glover) and Earl (Brian Tyree Henry) as they rise through the ranks of Atlanta’s rap scene; Lakeith Stansfield (Straight Outta Compton, Dope) and newcomer Zazie Beetz also star. The 15-second teasers FX just released don’t give us much, plot-wise, but the show’s vibe seems perfectly in line with Glover’s own darkly comic, line-stepping style.
Atlanta premieres September 10 at 10pm on FX.
