As of this morning, there were approximately 784,274 people cast in next year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, and now we have a 784,275th! According to Deadline, Manhattan alum Michael Chernus will be playing longtime Spidey foe Phineas Mason, a.k.a. the Tinkerer. If you haven’t heard of the baddie, don’t be too hard on yourself — he’s a pretty minor member of the wall-crawler’s rogues’ gallery. He’s a non-superpowered tech genius who builds sinister gadgets. In his comics history, he’s often constructed devices for other villains, so mayhap he’ll be providing Michael Keaton’s Vulture with his wings? Or perhaps he’ll just torment Peter by deleting Snapchat from the teen’s phone.
