A Rocko’s Modern Life TV Movie Is Coming to Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon is once again preparing to take us to a land down under, where anthropomorphic wallabys glow and steers plunder. (Wait, Men at Work didn’t write that song about O-Town, America? Damn.) EW reports that Nickelodeon has green-lit a Rocko’s Modern Life television movie, based off the classic, beloved animated Nicktoon that ran on the network between 1993–1996. The one-hour TV special — which doesn’t yet have a title, release date, or confirmation of voice actors — will find all of the original characters returning to O-Town for more mundane and silly adventures. (Rocko! Heffer! Filburt! Spunky!) The show’s creator, Joe Murray, will executive produce and co-direct the film. “I’m very happy to be rejoining Rocko and my friends from O-Town again,†Murray said in a statement. “What I have found by bringing these characters back is that it’s not so much about nostalgia, but a sense that they still feel relevant and fresh to me, and after 20 years, they can’t wait to comment on modern life in the 21st century. They still have a lot to say.â€Â Patience, Cat-Dog, you’ll get your gritty, modern comeback in due course.
