Back in 1993, D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus threw open the backroom doors of Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign with The War Room, which followed strategists George Stephanopoulos and James Carville. Now, in its second — or rather, 51st — season, IFC’s Documentary Now! will premiere a War Room parody called The Bunker, with Bill Hader and Fred Armisen working an Ohio gubernatorial race. Come for the exaggerated accents, stay for the questionable ‘90s sartorial choices. Documentary Now! returns on September 14. Other episodes include an homage to Jiro Dreams of Sushi called Juan Likes Rice & Chicken, a take on Jonathan Demme’s Swimming to Cambodia, a Stop Making Sense parody, a play on the documentary Salesmen, and a Hollywood story in the vein of The Kid Stays in the Picture.
