Before he created and starred in Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda honed his music and acting skills with Freestyle Love Supreme, a hip-hop improv group / freestyle rap crew. The group formed when Miranda (who has a music background) and Anthony Veneziale (a seasoned improv comedian) started freestyling to blow off steam while they were creating the musical In the Heights. They started performing at the Peoples Improv Theater, recruiting other performers (and a beatboxer) along the way.
