Steph Davidson is an illustrator and designer. You can find her work on Bloomberg Businessweek and on her website. This week I spoke with her about three of her favorite tweets, plus images, text, and more.
Davidson: When you see 3 PT Cruisers and make a wish, it comes true. Try it.
What’s the most that you’ve tweeted in a day?
Maybe 4 or 5? Not sure.
I like that a lot of your tweets are very concise, like some are just a few words. Is that intentional?
Short tweets are easier on the eyes I think.
All of these illustrators and designers are constantly getting ripped off by Zara, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, and so on. But not me. They’re not even looking at my portfolio.
When you do image-based tweets is it more often stuff you were already making or stuff just for Twitter?
Usually something that’s overlapping with my blog.
How, if at all, has the way you tweet changed over time?
Not sure, but when I look back on my old tweets it seems like they’re from someone else.
It was risky for me to tweet this, because of the potential legal repercussions, but it was time.
Do you have a favorite recurring feature on your Twitter, like #ArrowOfTheWeek?
Arrow of the Week is fun but I think I explored most of the creative directions you can take a stock photo arrow so I’ve really been struggling with that lately.
Is there anything you wish was different about Twitter?
Even though I post lots of images I wish they had never allowed them. Images really drown out any text.
