TBS just ordered pretty bizarre-sounding comedy pilot starring and executive produced by Aubrey Plaza. According to TV Line, the network has given a pilot order to Nightmare Time, which Plaza co-wrote with Darcy Fowler, Kiernan Valla, and Seth Kirschner. Here’s the logline for the project:
Set in Aubrey Plaza’s Nightmare Clinic, celebrity guests check in to overcome recurring nightmares. Thanks to advanced technology, we’re able to peer into their restless minds, and witness their nightmares in real time. But what is ‘real’ anyway? Maybe it’s all just a nightmare in Aubrey’s mind. One endless nightmare that could eventually destroy her and the entire world.
If the pilot lands a series order, each episode will feature two nightmares “inspired by the horrors of modern society†and the “tropes and touchstones of the horror genre.†Adult Swim has a new show set in a dream clinic called Dream Corp LLC, which is slated to premiere later this month.
UPDATE: According to TBS, Plaza will appear in the pilot, but if it lands a series order, she will not have a regular starring role. The show will, however, still be set in Aubrey Plaza’s Nightmare Clinic, and Plaza will serve as an executive producer on the show.
