See Kenzo Transform Models Into Living Statues

Pictures of Kenzo’s Studio 54–inspired collection and makeup have flooded Snapchat and Instagram Stories. But lesser seen was the cast of 24 surreal living statues that greeted show goers at the Paris architecture museum Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine. Makeup artist Deborah Finnegan and her team painted the odd circus backstage at the show, using brushes and sponges to color the nude models stony shades of white, yellow, and blue.

In some cases, she and her team even painted models into plaster casts — one model was painted into an extra-large butt to resemble La Grande Odalisque, while others received enlarged appendages (there even appears to have been full-frontal nudity). Photographer Christine Hahn shot secret images of Kenzo’s live tableau, and of the Antonio Lopez–inspired red-lip beauty look (M.A.C Ruby Woo lip pencil and M.A.C Fashion Legacy Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor) created by Lynsey Alexander.
