The Television Academy Would Like to Remind Donald Trump That the Emmys Aren’t Rigged

When asked if he would accept the results of the upcoming election at the third presidential debate last night, Donald Trump said, “I’ll keep you in suspense.†That statement alone is a threat to American democracy, which, unsurprisingly, is not the first democracy Donald Trump has tried to take down. Trump has long railed against the Television Academy, which is responsible for awarding the Emmys, which denied The Apprentice Emmy recognition throughout its run. When Trump doubled-down on his claims last night, the Television Academy decided it had had enough, and responded with an elaborate, nearly illegible guide to the Emmy voting system on Twitter. We haven’t read through the whole chart, but we’re sure there’s also an explanation behind giving The Wire, and, let’s be honest, Veronica Mars, the recognition they deserved.
