Because every actor you love will play an indestructible hero one day, it’s only right that Jessica Chastain would join the super ranks. Deadline is reporting today that Chastain will be Jane Vasko, the lead character in the graphic novel Painkiller Jane, which follows a New York City police officer who gets recruited by the FBI to infiltrate an organized crime ring that makes its money off drugs and human trafficking. And from there, we get the origin story, “In a near death experience, Jane develops exceptional regenerative abilities that give her a unique indestructible advantage. With nothing to live for and no way to die, Painkiller Jane becomes an unstoppable force of nature seeking revenge on those who destroyed her life as she leaves a path of death and destruction in her wake.†Isn’t there always a wake to sort out in these kinds of stories? Chastain, who is also producing the movie, will add Painkiller Jane to her list of ass-kicking screen credits alongside movies like The Huntsman: Winter’s War, A Most Violent Year, Zero Dark Thirty, and the upcoming Miss Sloane. Just call her Painkiller Chastain.
