Eagle-eyed viewers watching Beyoncé and the Dixie Chicks’ masterful performance of “Daddy Lessons†at the Country Music Association Awards earlier this week might’ve noticed a visibly unamused Kenny Chesney standing in a sea of movin’ and shakin’ audience members, seemingly not loving what was happening onstage. His Instagram and Twitter accounts were soon bombarded with an onslaught of bee ðŸ and lemon 🋠emojis — à la a certain Becky — from the Beyhive, who were in full-on attack mode over the apparent slight. However, in a statement released by Chesney yesterday, the country superstar wants to make it clear that, actually, he’s a huge fan of Bey and really enjoyed the one-song gig. “I love Beyoncé. I loved her Super Bowl performance, her sense of how to make the music hit really hard — and give it drama when she’s onstage,†he said. “The idea her fans were so quick to judge me, or know what I was thinking doesn’t feel like the woman I’ve always imagined Beyoncé to be — and honestly, the people who love her music, either.†And he would know, he has some pretty devoted fans, too.
