As the nation stared down an unexpected reality on Tuesday night, Stephen Colbert used his live Election Night special to give us the “true story†behind Donald Trump. The animated segment, “Trump Begins: The Dawn of the Donald,†starts at dark and stormy White House Correspondents’ Dinner of yore when Barack Obama made some cracks at the reality-television host’s expense. These jokes triggered in Trump memories of Little League baseball games lost, and led to an epic binge of snorting orange Tic Tacs while making evil plots in a tall Manhattan tower. It’s a cartoon, but it’s some real frightening stuff.
