Lin-Manuel Miranda somehow has enough time in his day to help out on a new project. Variety reports that Miranda — who collaborated on the music for Moana, is working on Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns, and has gigs on both the live-action The Little Mermaid and a secret Disney animated project coming down the line — is also writing several songs for a new animated project, Vivo, from Sony Animation. Quiara AlegrÃa Hudes, who wrote the book for In the Heights, is writing the script for the project, which centers on a monkey “who loves music and adventure, leading him to make a dangerous journey from Havana to Miami to fulfill his destiny.†Vivo is set for a December 18, 2020 release, by which point Lin-Manuel Miranda will already have signed on for roughly six dozen other projects.
