Regina King is good at everything, but Regina King is especially good at crime dramas. See her work on Southland or American Crime — she’s received an Emmy for each. So, in the grand tradition of sticking with what works, King’s joined the cast of a new crime drama called Seven Seconds, coming to Netflix. From the American The Killing’s Veena Sud, Seven Seconds is set in Jersey City, where tensions rise between black citizens and the primarily white police force. King will play Latrice Butler, “a devout churchgoer and proud wife and mother†who has moved from the projects with her family to become a first-time homeowner, but is “shaken to the core when she learns that her 15-year-old son Brenton has been in an incident.â€Â David Lyons, Michael Mosley, Russell Hornsby, and Beau Knapp are also among the cast. Hopefully, this will give Regina King a reason to use her righteous fury face, one of the very best Regina King crime-drama faces.
