Good Wife fans who faced a dearth of queer story lines once Kalinda left the show can take some small comfort in the fact that CBS All Access’ spinoff series The Good Fight, which premieres February 19, is going to be pretty gay. TVLine reports that Rose Leslie’s lead character Maia, the goddaughter of Diane (Christine Baranski), is a lesbian and will have a steady girlfriend when the show premieres. The series picks up after Maia gets caught in a financial scam which also brings down Diane and forces them to restart their careers at a new law firm with Luca Quinn (Cush Jumbo). In further proof that gay TV is pretty cool, CBS All Access’ other big show, Star Trek: Discovery, will also prominently feature a gay character. There’s no reason to believe Matt Czuchry would ever drop by the spinoff, but are we going to ever hear back about that story line where a male associate was hitting on Cary?
Update: Here, via EW, is a photo of Maia curled up with her girlfriend Amy (Helene Yorke), who is also a lawyer. They seem very serious, but also very cozy.
