Will Ferrell is taking his talent for playing semi-famous buffoons who are strangely adept at their jobs — see Anchorman, Talladega Nights, Blades of Glory — and is looking to level up in the world of competitive video-gaming. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ferrell has signed on to star in an unnamed movie where he’ll play a middle-aged man with exceptional hand-eye coordination who competes on an eSports team with a bunch of much younger players. The game makes its way through sold-out arenas and will almost assuredly include plenty of jokes about millennials and how little they understand about the real world outside their screens. Kids today! Though, considering the comedy is also slated to feature popular IRL eSports teams Evil Geniuses and Fnatic, it’s probably also hoping to pick up a few new fans for the growing industry, which has tens of millions of worldwide watchers on YouTube and the like. Does this mean Ferrell is putting that satire about America’s relationship with Mexico on the shelf for a bit? We can’t imagine why.
