Oprah Winfrey and Alan Ball (Six Feet Under, True Blood) have been planning an adaptation of the acclaimed nonfiction book The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks since 2010, and at last, the HBO movie now has a pretty riveting teaser. The movie follows Winfrey’s character as she searches for information about her mother, Henrietta Lacks (played by Hamilton original cast member Reneé Elise Goldsberry), whom she never knew and whose cells were harvested without her consent — leading to important medical discoveries — before she died of cancer in 1951. The movie hits HBO on April 22, so you still have time to suggest the book to your book club to prepare.
