We’re less than three months into Donald Trump’s presidency, but Alec Baldwin is already at work penning his presidential memoirs. Yes, his own: Baldwin is working with “Studio 360†host Kurt Andersen on “You Can’t Spell America Without Me: The Really Tremendous Inside Story of My Fantastic First Year as President Donald J. Trump,†according to The New York Times. As founding editor of Spy magazine in the 1980s, Andersen sparred with Trump early and often (the magazine famously called Trump a “short-fingered vulgarianâ€). The book won’t just double down on Baldwin’s uncanny impression of the president, but will also satirize his thinking and actions in a narrative. “I think it’s fair to say that Kurt will do most of the writing,†Baldwin told the Times in an email. “We have that arrangement whereby he doesn’t put on the wig, I don’t open up a Word document.†Baldwin will, of course, read the audiobook version in character. Andersen promises the book will mix shots at Trump with political commentary: “It’ll be sharp. I’m going to start talking like Trump: It’ll be great! It’ll be fantastic! But it will be sharp. It won’t just be fun-loving,†he said.
