Domino and Deadpool go way, way back. The two characters — both co-created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza — debuted in the same issue of Marvel Comics’ New Mutants way back in the early 1990s (well, Domino was being impersonated by a shapeshifter at the time, but let’s not get into that). So it’s no surprise that she’ll be playing a major role in the release-date-TBD Deadpool sequel, and it appears that she’ll be played by Atlanta star Zazie Beetz. We say “appears†because Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, didn’t exactly say that was the case; instead, he just tweeted a picture of dominos whose dots spell out her name:
Domino’s basic deal is that she’s a hard-headed and lethal mercenary with the mutant ability to inadvertently alter probability. It’s hard to explain what, exactly, that means, but basically it means she has a lot of good luck and her opponents have bad luck. Clearly, the former of those two kinds of luck rubbed off on Beetz.
