He’s baaaaack: Brian d’Arcy James is following through on his threat to return. Per Deadline, Hamilton’s very first King George III will reprise his role in the juggernaut, though no timeline is yet known. James first originated the part Off Broadway at the Public Theater, abdicating the throne for Jonathan Groff in order to play a decidedly less aristocratic British figure in Something Rotten on Broadway. It’s not clear how James’s return will affect the naming system he started — he’s King George III the First, Groff is King George III the Second, and so on — but it wouldn’t be British monarchical history if things didn’t get a little bloody.
