Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds, who play fellow astronauts in Life, have spent much of their press tour trying to convince the world that they are Actual Real Life Friends. That plan came screeching to a halt on Late Night last night when Jake called his buddy Ryan; and Ryan, shudder at the thought, didn’t pick up the phone. Eventually, in act three of this thrilling drama, Ryan called Jake back during a break in taping, allowing the Real Friends to show off their Real Friendship for the audience. It’s delightful, but when this is all over, Ryan’s going to leave Jake on read.
