While Jack Antonoff is never far from an earwormy hook, his band Bleachers hasn’t released an album since their first, Strange Desire, in 2014. That’s soon to change, as the group’s sophomore release is officially upcoming, and its first track is here. According to Stereogum, “Don’t Take the Money†is reportedly co-written by Lorde, who also provides backing vocals on the tune. The single, which sticks close to Bleachers’ vibe of ’80s-inspired synth-pop, made a rather aggressive world debut. Antonoff catered to fans who have long wanted to whack him, hiding USB drives containing the song in a him-shaped piñata in New York’s Union Square. “Don’t Take the Money†is now available on nonviolent mediums for fans free of internal conflict.
