The Daily Show with Trevor Noah just added a new member to its news team. Comedy Central just announced that British comedian Gina Yashere has joined the show as a contributor – or as Yashere put it on Twitter, “British Correspondent.†Here’s more on Yashere from Comedy Central’s press release:
Yashere (@ginayashere) was born & raised in London UK, of Nigerian parents, and previously worked as an elevator engineer for Otis. Gina has been a stand-up comedian and television star in the UK for several years now, appearing on iconic British TV shows such as Live At The Apollo and Mock The Week, as well as creating & performing popular comedic characters on The Lenny Henry Show. Yashere broke into the American comedy scene when she made it to the top ten on Last Comic Standing, and since then has made The States her home. She went on to be named one of the top ten rising talents by the The Hollywood Reporter, is the only British comedian to ever appear on the Def Comedy Jam, has appeared on @midnight with Chris Hardwick, The Tonight Show and Crashing and had a one-hour on Showtime titled Skinny B*tch. Yashere’s most recent special, Gina Yashere: Ticking Boxes, was filmed at the famed 02 Academy in London in front of over 2000 of her fans and is currently streaming on Seeso TV.
Yashere will make her Daily Show debut on the show tonight.
