If you’re hankering for a simpler time in the world of sexual politics — for loutishly charming males, and American print pornography — then you’ve probably been waiting for American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story since Amazon announced the 13-part docuseries last year. Well, now you can satiate your longing, at least in part, for we have a trailer. In it, we get a glimpse at how Amazon wrestled with the “17,000 hours of taped footage and 2,600-plus scrapbooks†that Hefner contributed to the project. From the trailer, it looks like this will be an intriguing hybrid — a documentary-and-fictionalized take on the over six decades of Playboy’s history (albeit seemingly with a healthy pro-Hef slant). And say hello to New Zealand’s Matt Whelan (Narcos), who will take on the role of Hef’s younger, pre-smoking jacket self. The full series will be available to stream on Amazon April 7.
