Back in 2015, Jon Stewart signed a four-year production deal with HBO that was slated to include a series of short-form animations parodying cable news, but now it looks like the project will not move forward at the network. According to Variety, Stewart and the network have decided to scrap the short-form animation project, but HBO will still develop projects with the former Daily Show host as part of the development deal. “We all thought the project had great potential but there were technical issues in terms of production and distribution that proved too difficult given the quick turnaround and topical nature of the material,†HBO said in a statement. “We’re excited to report that we have some future projects together which you will be hearing about in the near future.â€
