Of the many faces of Benedict Cumberbatch, The Child in Time promises a lot of sad, devastated looks from the actor. An adaptation of Ian McEwan’s 1987 award-winning novel, Cumberbatch plays a children’s book writer whose only child is kidnapped during a trip to the grocery store. Kelly MacDonald co-stars as his despondent wife. The 90-minute BBC drama will air on Masterpiece on PBS in 2018.
