Kristin Chenoweth might be headed to ABC to star in a comedy as The Real Fairy Godmother. Deadline reports that the network has given a put-pilot commitment to the single-cam comedy, which would follow Chenoweth as “a self-absorbed ‘real housewife’ who learns that she’s descended from a secret order of Fairy Godmothers and has an inescapable destiny to use her magical abilities to help those in need. As she begrudgingly executes her assigned weekly FGM missions, she slowly begins to realize just how superficial and morally bankrupt her actual life is and — to the confusion of her dysfunctional family and friends — tries to get them all to be better people.†The show is written by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, and Craig Zadan and Neil Maron are attached to executive produce. While the show is not a musical, Deadline notes that Zadan and Meron have worked with Chenoweth on several musical projects including last year’s Hairspray Live! on NBC, so it’s possible her character would occasionally sing on the show “when that fits organically into the story.â€
