HBO just added a new Flight of the Conchords special. The network announced today that Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement are set to tape a one-hour special for the network, which will take place during a sold-out show on their upcoming UK tour and debut sometime in May. The special will feature classic songs as well as new original songs from the tour, and Hamish Hamilton is attached to direct. Clement confirmed the news to IndieWire last week and also revealed that a US TV spin-off of What We Do in the Shadows is in the works and that the plan is to shoot a pilot later this year. The US spin-off would center on a documentary crew, while the six-episode New Zealand spinoff – Wellington Paranormal – is inspired by the cops from the film and is expected to premiere later this year.
