Imported from across the pond and coming soon to Showtime, Cumberbatch finally gets his chance to wiggle around the screen as the unwell — yet still fun — titular alcoholic playboy in Patrick Melrose who struggles to overcome the mental and physical damage inflicted by his father. (It’s adapted from the series of popular novels written by Edward St. Aubyn.) We get three time-jumps throughout the five-episode series as Patrick grows up, as well as a bang-up cast that includes Jennifer Jason Leigh, Blythe Danner, and Hugo Weaving. Showtime should have a premiere date soon.
