The Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) and the Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) announced nominations for the 2018 awards, and The Post did not make the cut. (Sorry, iconic gold caftan — we were all rooting for you!) Things are getting complicated for the righteous newspaper drama, which also missed out on a SAG nomination. Instead, The Big Sick, Get Out, I, Tonya, Lady Bird, and The Shape of Water will compete for the guild’s original screenplay honor. On the adapted side, languid summer romance Call Me by Your Name will go up against the zany Disaster Artist, Molly’s Game’s Sorkin-ese, the southern epic Mudbound, and — in a surprising turn — Logan.
