Michelle Wolf isn’t the only Daily Show correspondent to land her own weekly Netflix talk show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streaming network has also added a weekly talk show hosted by Hasan Minhaj, which is described as “an opportunity for the comedian to explore the modern cultural and political landscapes with depth and sincerity†and makes the first weekly comedy show with an Indian-American host. The untitled series has been given a whopping 32-episode order by Netflix, and it’s expected to debut sometime later this year. According to THR’s report, Minhaj produced the pilot for the series, which “sparked a heated bidding war†that Netflix eventually won out over networks including Comedy Central. “I’m thrilled to be joining the Netflix family as the country braces for another election season — and like you, I cannot wait to find out who Putin picks this time,â€Â Minhaj said on the news.
In addition to his work on The Daily Show, Minhaj hosted the 2017 White House Correspondents’ Dinner and debuted his most recent standup special, Homecoming King, on Netflix last May.
