Remember in late January when Norm Macdonald revealed on Reddit that he was in negotiations with Netflix to host a talk show, then he took to Twitter after his announcement got picked up by news sites to say we “misunderstood†him? Well, there was no misunderstanding, because Netflix and Macdonald just confirmed that the streaming network has ordered 10 episodes of a talk show from Macdonald called Norm Macdonald Has a Show. Each episode will feature Macdonald, his Norm Macdonald Live sidekick Adam Eget, and a celebrity guest and “will deliver great and unexpected conversation, jokes and a behind-the-scenes look at Norm’s world.†In addition to hosting, Macdonald is credited as an executive producer and co-showrunner alongside frequent collaborator Lori Jo Hoekstra, and K.P. Anderson (The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale) and Daniel Kellison (Norm Macdonald Live) also serve as executive producers. As a bonus, David Letterman is creatively involved with the project – Macdonald refers to him as the show’s official “location scout.â€
Since Macdonald announced he was in negotiations with Netflix in January, the Norm Macdonald Live YouTube channel has since been shut down, so all of the past episodes are now unavailable to view. There’s no word yet on whether the old episodes will move to Netflix or when we can expect Norm Macdonald Has a Show to premiere just yet. Macdonald makes the fourth comedian to land his own Netflix talk show since January, joining Joel McHale, Michelle Wolf, and most recently Hasan Minhaj.
