Hedi Slimane Had a Very On-Brand Birthday Party in Paris

Hedi Slimane, lover of skinny ties, rock and roll, and black-and-white photography, had a very on-brand 50th birthday party this weekend in Paris. Organized by his gaggle of model and musician friends, the surprise fête took place at the famous Le Palace nightclub, where Grace Jones, Serge Gainsbourg, and a young Slimane have all partied in the past. (Coincidentally, Gucci just announced it will hold its presentation there this fall as well.) Le Palace is clearly the go-to spot for a good time in Paris, and Slimane and his look-alikes took full advantage of their surroundings with an all-night concert and of course, an impromptu photo shoot. Slimane, who will make his debut at the helm of Céline this fall, prefers to be behind-the-scenes — and the camera. His photos from this weekend read almost as a lookbook, featuring plenty of miniskirts, tight trousers, and a perfectly calculated amount of grunge.
