The Best, Worst, and Poufiest Looks at the Emmys Red Carpet

Before we started counting the number of times hosts and presenters shoehorned the word “diversity” into their speeches, there was a red carpet at the 2018 Emmy Awards. And what a red carpet it was! The number of sequins felt appropriate to celebrate the good dramas, better reality shows, and best British actors of 2018. Mandy Moore wore brown sequins (which may be a first), Tina Fey wore sequins and lace, Constance Wu chose a silvery-blue number that looked like chain mail, and Michelle Wolf showed up in metallic purple.

But there were plenty of people who opted out of the disco ball look, most notably our best-dressed of the evening: Tracee Ellis Ross. She’s nominated for best Lead Actress in a Comedy Show, but in her voluminous Valentino hot pink dress, there was no competition. Read on for the best, worst, and largest looks from the night.
