Look, not everyone has a concept for an amazing Batman movie. Not all of us are Tim Burton. In a move befitting the Dark Knight himself, Ben Affleck decided to bow out of playing Bruce Wayne and directing a planned Batman movie after realizing, well, he just didn’t have it in him.
“I tried to direct a version of it and worked with a really good screenwriter, but just couldn’t come up with a version, couldn’t crack it,†Affleck said Thursday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! “So I thought it was time to let someone else take a shot at it. They got some really good people, so I’m excited.â€
Director Matt Reeves has taken up the Bat-mantle for the movie, reportedly due out in 2021 and currently titled The Batman. Ben shouldn’t feel too bad. Knowing the movie industry, there will be approximately 5,000 future superhero roles for Affleck to play, and Batfleck will fade into the past. After all, people barely remember Ryan Reynolds played Green Lantern, right?
