Though it was never predicted to be a blockbuster, Liam Neeson’s latest dad-vengeance flick Cold Pursuit found itself melting at the box office this weekend. It earned a measly $10.8 million, which, when compared to Taken 2’s $49.5 million, isn’t great. According to a report in The Wrap, this is the worst opening for an action movie starring Neeson since 1990’s Darkman. Ouch. Maybe it’s the end of the era? Maybe people are sick of cold? Or maybe the idea of watching Liam Neeson pursue vengeance has suddenly become less of a fun movie-going experience and more a very scary real-life thing? Or, hey, maybe it’s just a sign that Neeson should give up this whole vengeance thing and focus more on horse treats and aliens.
