Booksmart, the directorial debut of Olivia Wilde, looks part Lady Bird, part Superbad, in the key of Blockers: Two young women are ready to peel off their Yale sweatshirts, shotgun a few beers, and hang out with the cool slacker kids (who also happen to be pretty smart … “I’m incredible at hand jobs, but I also got a 1560 on the SATs,†one says) in an R-rated romp. Booksmart premiered at SXSW to rave reviews. See it in theaters May 24.
