Comedy royalty Carol Burnett and Tina Fey are teaming up for the project of your dreams. According to Variety, Burnett’s best-selling 2013 book Carrie and Me: A Mother-Daughter Love Story is being developed for the big screen, and both Burnett and Fey are involved as producers. Like the book, the film will center on Burnett’s career “as a working mother, actress, and producer.†It revolves around her relationship with her daughter, Carrie, and how Carrie “overcame a public struggle with drug addiction as a teenager, but achieved sobriety as an adult before dying of cancer at the age of 38.â€

Fey is a longtime fan of Burnett, calling her love for the pioneering comedian “just shy of creepy†when Burnett was awarded the Mark Twain Prize back in 2013. Alongside Amy Poehler, Fey also presented Burnett with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the SAG Awards in 2016, where they wrapped up their introduction by saying, “The point is, Carol is better than all of us. We’re gonna give her a prize for it.†So, yeah, Fey is definitely the right person for the gig.
