In addition to being a star quarterback and the object of many a football mom’s crush, Aaron Rodgers is such a big fan of Game of Thrones he found a way to cameo in the second-to-last episode. But was he satisfied with the divisive series finale? “No!†Aaron, in fact, has some opinions he’d like to unload: “I mean, you come down to the end and Tyrion says the person with the best story is Bran?†Long pause. “Who, by the way, three episodes ago, said he wasn’t Bran Stark anymore? No! Jon had a better story. Dany had a better story. Arya had a better story. Sansa had a better story. Tyrion had a better story. Varys had a better story. Bronn, lot better story. Jaime, better story. Cersei, probably better stories. Any Baratheon, better story.â€
So who would Aaron like to touchdown on the throne? (Sorry, this is an entertainment blog, I barely understand football.) “I think Dany should’ve been on the throne!†A controversial take that Rodgers doesn’t fully explain because he returns to the whole Bran thing. “If Bran, the Three-Eyed Raven, who’s all about the health of the realm? Let’s think about what he did. He basically wanted the throne the whole time, because he’s the one that told the Starks, knowing that Sansa would tell Tyrion, knowing that Tyrion would talk to Varys, knowing they’d scheme for Dany’s death, knowing that would piss her off, which led her to be the mad queen. So he, the entire time, set this whole thing up? And at the end he goes, ‘Oh, I don’t want to be king, but why don’t I travel all this way to be here.’†Another pause. “Look, I love the opportunity to be in the show, which most people probably don’t think I was, but I was there,†Rodgers concludes. “But the writers are also doing Star Wars so I think they might’ve been a little busy this last season.â€Â Aaron, if you have any other Thrones takes you would like to unload, please reach out to us at Vulture. I promise I will learn what a quarterback does as part of the exchange.
