If Hurricane Heist taught us one thing, it’s that basically any action movie can be made better with a massive storm surge pushing whatever else is happening to a ridiculous new extreme. Robbing the Treasury? Try doing it in a hurricane! Fighting to survive a swarm of attacking alligators? Try doing it in a hurricane! That is truly the premise of Crawl, which stars Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper as a father and daughter — both suffering from hemorrhaging injuries — trying to get out of their home during a massive hurricane that’s got them trapped inside. So they’re in danger of drowning, bleeding to death, and also being eaten alive. This is cinema! Sam Raimi produced Crawl with Alexander Aja (of High Tension and Piranha 3D fame) in the director’s chair. Now please enjoy this trailer, in which Scodelario calls an alligator in her bathroom a son of a bitch and dares it to come at her — like a real American hero played by a British girl. Crawl starts playing in theaters on July 12.
