C’mon, hackers — we wanted more of the Phantom Thread score, get your priorities straight. A day after 18 hours of Radiohead OK Computer sessions (recorded around 1997) were leaked online, the band has decided to make the best of an unfortunate invasion of privacy. Per Pitchfork, all of the songs are now available for purchase on Radiohead’s official Bandcamp page for a cool $23, with the proceeds going to Extinction Rebellion, a climate activist group. (You just need to act fast, as it’ll only be available for purchase until the end of the month.) “Someone stole Thom’s minidisk archive from around the time of OK Computer, and reportedly demanded $150,000 on threat of releasing it. So instead of complaining — much — or ignoring it, we’re releasing all 18 hours,†Jonny Greenwood said in a statement. “Never intended for public consumption, it’s only tangentially interesting. And very, very long. Not a phone download. Rainy out, isn’t it though?†Maybe the hackers should’ve taken a cue from the Rock Hall and … chilled out.
