Novelist Michael Chabon is boldly going where many a man has gone before: being in charge of a TV show. CBS Studios has announced that Chabon will be the showrunner of the upcoming CBS All Access series Star Trek: Picard. The show returns Patrick Stewart to the role of Jean-Luc Picard, which he originated in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and also apparently focuses on his vineyard. According to a CBS release, Chabon, best known as the Pulitzer Prize–winning author of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, is working closely with writers Akiva Goldsman and Alex Kurtzman, who are overseeing CBS’s Star Trek universe. This isn’t Chabon’s first foray into the vast universe of television, since he’s worked on the TV series Unbelievable for Netflix. Film-wise, he has credits on Spider-Man 2 and John Carter, among others. Will this get us closer to the Kavalier & Klay movie and/or TV series we all sometimes dream about? Well, last we checked, that project was pretty dead, but we can all hope.
