The Sopranos may in fact get a reboot someday, according to a report in Deadline. David Chase is currently working on the feature film The Many Saints of Newark, which will be a prequel to the acclaimed HBO drama series and includes James Gandolfini’s son Michael playing the young Tony Soprano. And, much like how if you give a mouse a cookie, he’s gonna want a glass of milk, if you give the industry a successful prequel, it will want a reboot. When asked about Chase’s upcoming film at TCA, and whether the network would consider a reboot, HBO president of programming, Casey Bloys, was clearly open to it. “I keep saying ‘Never say never,’” he told Deadline. “There are no plans, there is no discussions about it, but [Michael Gandolfini] is a really good actor, we had him on The Deuce. There is nothing on the table at the moment but I will stay open.”
