She’s strong! She’s loud! She’s going to make you proud! But Kirsten Dunst wants to remind Hollywood that she’s not just a cheerleader, and that her roll call goes well beyond Bring It On. In an interview with SiriusXM host Larry Flick on his show In Depth With Larry Flick, the On Becoming a God in Central Florida star admitted that she’s “never†fully felt the impact of her acting career, due to the fact that she has never felt recognized by her peers or the industry at large. Despite being Sofia Coppola’s muse in films that defined an entire generation’s Tumblr aesthetic, as well as her performances in Melancholia and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Dunst feels that she’s never really received her due in Hollywood: “I’ve never been recognized in my industry. I’ve never been nominated for anything. Maybe like, twice for Golden Globes when I was little, and one for Fargo.†Dunst says she doesn’t fully know why it is that it hasn’t worked out in terms of awards recognition, but theorizes, “maybe they think I’m just the girl from Bring It On.â€

Not only does Dunst feel underrated, but she also calls out fair-weather fans and critics who deride her works in the moment only to praise them years later: “Remember Marie Antoinette … y’all panned it? And now you all love it. Remember Drop Dead Gorgeous? Panned. Now you all love it.â€

The message is clear: appreciate Kirsten Dunst, you ingrates! And while you’re at it, stream Bachelorette!
