Oh, look. Another glorious morning. But we are not sick, for Kelly Clarkson has given us a better Halloween cover performance than we could have ever possibly wished for. Iconically dressed as Bette Midlerâs Winifred Sanderson from Hocus Pocus, and flanked by singers dressed as her two witch sisters, Mary and Sarah (famously portrayed by Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker in the film), Clarkson performed âI Put a Spell on You,â as featured in the movie. But instead of opting for Bette Midlerâs version, she surprised us all once more by covering the original mid-â50s blues hit by Screaminâ Jay Hawkins â and killed it. Seriously, other daytime hosts, you may want to take today off. Belting and wailing all over that dark stage with her creepy bellhop dancers, Kelly had us all under a spell. From the production value to her sheer vocal ability, it may even be the best Kellyoke yet. Thatâs no hocus-pocus.
And if youâre itching for even more of Halloween Kelly content, she gave us the gift of a second cover this episode. Violin goddess Lindsey Stirling visited the show, and you know they had to perform something, so Kelly â still giving us Bette Midler witch realness â joined Stirling on Elle Kingâs part of her song âThe Upside.â Halloween, the gift that keeps on giving!
