Saturday Night Live may be back, but more weirdo-filmed sketches arenât the only thing you have to look forward to when it comes to Please Donât Destroy. PDD, SNLâs golden sketch trio, are going on a hunt for gold in an upcoming buddy comedy for Universal Pictures out November 17 on Peacock. The groupâs members, Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy, wrote and are starring in Please Donât Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain as âthree childhood friends who live and work together,â decide they donât like their lives, and âset off to find a gold treasure that is rumored to be buried in the nearby mountain.â This mountain is presumably foggy. Joining the boys on this (mis)adventure are their SNL co-worker Bowen Yang, Conan OâBrien, Meg Stalter, comedian X Mayo, and Superstoreâs Nichole Sakura. John Goodman is narrating, Judd Apatow is producing, and veteran comedy director Paul Briganti â best known for his work on SNL â is our director.
In the first trailer for the film, PDD resident redhead Ben Marshallâs dad is played by a very disappointed Conan OâBrien. Now, that may be because Marshallâs the only one with red hair, or it might be because heâs the only one whose real-life dad never worked for SNL. Who can say? Based on the trailer, we can confirm that the film keeps the sketch trioâs intentionally stupid/surrealist tone, with portals, cults, and a description of Marshall as âa colonial ghost.â The film marks the trioâs debut movie following their rise to prominence via viral sketches on social media before breaking out on SNL. Perhaps now that they are about to become bona fide movie stars, theyâll no longer have to suffer the fate of being âThree Sad Virgins.â
