Looks like this Pink Pony Girl is holding her horses for a bit. On Friday, Chappell Roan announced in an Instagram Story that she is pulling out of this year’s All Things Go music festival. “I apologize to people who have been waiting to see me in NYC & DC this weekend at All Things Go, but I am unable to perform,†she wrote. “Things have gotten overwhelming over the past few weeks and I am really feeling it. She explained that she needs “a few days†to prioritize her health, adding that she wants to be “present†on stage and give the best shows possible. Roan was originally scheduled to play at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium on Saturday and at Maryland’s Merriweather Post Pavilion on Sunday. All Things Go later reposted Roan’s Story and confirmed that these sets had been canceled. In a statement of support, the festival emphasized the importance of putting artists’ well-being first and asked fans to “rally around Chappell Roan with love and understanding.†The full lineup for the two-day event still includes Laufey, Bleachers, Janelle Monáe, Hozier, Reneé Rapp, Ethel Cain, Julien Baker, Conan Gray, and more.

The news comes after a recent wave of criticism over Roan’s stance on the 2024 election. The singer clarified in a pair of TikToks earlier this week that she will be “voting for fucking Kamala,†adding, “fuck Trump, for fucking real.†However, she has maintained that she will not personally endorse Kamala Harris. “There is no way I can stand behind some of the left’s completely transphobic and completely genocidal views,†she said, going on to declare that the Democratic Party “has failed people like me and you, and more so Palestine, and more so every marginalized community in the world.â€

And that’s just the latest discourse around Roan, who made headlines this year for critiquing people who feel like they can cross her boundaries or engage in “predatory behavior†because she is a celebrity. Roan recently also told The Guardian that she has been diagnosed with severe depression, and suggested that her symptoms may be linked to life changes that have accompanied her rise to fame. What’s next? For now, Roan is still scheduled to play the Austin City Limits Festival on the first two Sundays of October. Some fans are hopeful that she’ll feel ready to perform again by then, while others are already steeling themselves for the possibility that she may decide n-o-t-t-o-g-o.
