Sometimes, when a pop star knows too much, it feels wrong. Stan terms should not breach containment. All this to say: Lady Gaga knows about reheating nachos, and it feels so wrong. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gaga references the nachos meme with journalist Joey Nolfi. “I’ve heard this!” Gaga said when she was asked about the term. “I know that it can be used both in positive and negative ways, but I would say I invented them, and I am proud of them.” The interview has been deleted from YouTube, though a clip of her talking about nachos is still available on X, and the full interview is still available on EW’s website. The response to Gaga learning about this internet brain-rot term was swiftly negative on X. “Nachos over,” tweeted pop-culture podcast Who? Weekly.

Throughout Mayhem promotion, Gaga has acknowledged that the album is something of a return to form for her, a reheating of her own nachos, if you will — she literally sings about “bad romance” on the song “East of Eden,” per Stereogum — while also saying that she was in a different place. “So much of what I did with ‘Abracadabra’ was about claiming music and imagery that’s my own invention — meaning the combination of those things is my own invention, and I wanted to really own that for myself,” she told EW. She added to AP News that “very often as a woman in music, they say it was other people. You’re a product, like you were made. Something that was really important to me on this was really taking from myself my own inventions.” And these nachos are of her own making, baby. That’s her cheese blend.
