Time for the critics to shower love upon the most interesting and provocative films of the year (just for the movie stars to disregard and vote for Green Book two months later). Following the Gotham Awards on December 2, which counted A Different Man, Nickel Boys, and His Three Daughters among the 2024’s best, now comes the New York Film Critics Circle awards. The winners, announced December 3, tend to be good indicators for Academy Award predictions or to see if you made a good pick in Vulture’s Movie Fantasy League. Only two NYFCC Best Film winners have missed out on getting an Oscar nomination for Best Picture since 2009: Carol and First Cow. So far, the big boosts from NYFCC have gone to Anora, Kieran Culkin of A Real Pain, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste of Hard Truths, but the Best Film award is still to come. Below, the full list of New York Film Critics Circle winners, updating live.
