The New York Post is reporting that Steve Buscemi was attacked in Kips Bay last week. Buscemi was punched seemingly at random, and was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he was treated for swelling to his face and left eye. The man volunteered at Ground Zero, don’t do him like that. “Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,†his publicist said in a statement. “He is ok and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while also walking the streets of New York.†Shoutout to all the New Yorkers who don’t punch anybody, let alone beloved actor Steve Buscemi, every day. There are more of you, statistically speaking.

May 17, 2024: The New York Police Department has arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly punching Steve Buscemi on May 8. Per Deadline, Clifton Williams has been charged with second-degree assault, a felony that could lead to two to seven years in prison. Police claim that Williams changed his appearance and left Manhattan after the May 8 incident on Third Avenue. Law enforcement told CNN that Williams is also accused of punching a 22-year-old man ten minutes before he allegedly punched Buscemi 11 blocks away on the same street. Not the most fun way to get there, but at least that 22-year-old can say he has something in common with a living treasure character actor?
